Audio Physic Midex RQ Floorstanding Speakers

Audio Physic Midex RQ represents a major evolution of the established Midex platform. The latest Reference Line version introduces Audio Physic’s newest RECOTec driver technology throughout the loudspeaker, together with Q-SET bass adjustment and the latest generation of HHCT V and HHCM V SL drivers.

The result is not simply a cosmetic update. Compared with the previous Midex generation, the Midex RQ is designed to deliver greater transparency, finer resolution and a significantly wider dynamic range, while preserving the spacious imaging and natural musical presentation for which Audio Physic loudspeakers are known.

RECOTec – a New Generation of Driver Technology

The Midex RQ uses Audio Physic’s RECOTec diaphragm technology in the woofer, midrange and tweeter sections. RECOTec combines a carbon-fibre mesh with a high-purity polypropylene matrix, creating a diaphragm with high rigidity, low resonance and excellent internal damping.

Unlike conventional composite structures, RECOTec is produced without additional adhesives or synthetic resins in the diaphragm structure. Audio Physic developed the material to combine the natural tonal character associated with traditional cone materials with the precision and resolution expected from modern high-rigidity diaphragms.

Fifth-Generation HHCT V Tweeter

High frequencies are reproduced by the new 39 mm HHCT V cone tweeter. This fifth-generation design uses RECOTec diaphragm material to improve rigidity and internal damping while maintaining the fast transient response required for delicate high-frequency information.

The new tweeter is designed to reproduce fine overtones, spatial information and low-level detail with greater openness and naturalness, contributing to the Midex RQ’s precise and expansive soundstage.

HHCM V SL Midrange Driver

The 150 mm HHCM V SL midrange driver continues Audio Physic’s spiderless midrange concept while introducing the latest RECOTec diaphragm technology. Its construction is designed to minimise mechanical energy storage and unwanted resonance in the critical vocal and instrumental range.

The result is a highly open and articulate midrange presentation with excellent differentiation of voices, instruments and small dynamic changes.

Two 7-Inch RECOTec Woofers

Low frequencies are handled by two 180 mm / 7-inch woofers equipped with RECOTec diaphragms and Audio Physic’s Double Surround construction. Their placement above and below the midrange and tweeter section helps distribute bass energy more evenly in the listening room.

This arrangement contributes to controlled, articulate low-frequency reproduction while allowing the comparatively narrow Midex RQ cabinet to produce bass extension down to 30 Hz.

Q-SET Bass Adjustment

The Midex RQ adds Audio Physic’s Q-SET technology, allowing the bass response to be adjusted from the rear of the loudspeaker to suit its position in the room.

This is particularly useful when the speakers are positioned closer to a rear wall or room corner, where acoustic reinforcement can otherwise produce excessive bass. Q-SET allows the low-frequency balance to be adapted without changing the electrical load presented to the amplifier.

Greater Dynamic Range

The new RECOTec drivers are designed not only to increase resolution but also to expand the usable dynamic range of the Midex RQ. Very small differences in level can be reproduced with precision, while large dynamic transitions retain authority and control.

This allows quiet musical passages to remain expressive and finely differentiated while powerful passages retain scale, impact and composure.

Sandwich Cabinet Construction

The Midex RQ retains Audio Physic’s sophisticated Sandwich Cabinet Construction. Internal reinforcement uses open-cell Ceramic Foam, a lightweight and exceptionally rigid material consisting largely of air. Its structure provides mechanical reinforcement while also diffusing internally radiated sound.

Honeycomb Sandwich Board is also used in the cabinet structure. Compared with conventional MDF, the material provides high rigidity with lower mass and reduced susceptibility to unwanted resonance.

Vibration Control Throughout the Loudspeaker

As part of Audio Physic’s Reference Line, the Midex RQ applies vibration-control principles throughout the loudspeaker. The crossover network and connection terminal are mechanically isolated to reduce the influence of unwanted vibration on sensitive electrical components.

The Vibration Control Terminal is equipped with high-quality WBT nextgen® binding posts. A single-wiring terminal is standard, while bi-wiring and bi-amping can be ordered as an option.

Stable Outrigger Construction

A robust outrigger system provides a secure mechanical foundation on different floor surfaces. Integrated M8 threads allow the standard support system to be upgraded with optional Audio Physic VCF V M8 Magnetic Plus vibration-control feet.

These optional feet further reduce the transfer of unwanted vibration while protecting delicate flooring.

Glass Finishes

The current Midex RQ is offered in three glass finishes: Glass Black, Glass White and Glass Anthracite. The relatively high mass of the glass side panels also contributes to the damping effect of Audio Physic’s Sandwich Cabinet Construction.
