Focal Aria Evo X N°1 is the compact bookshelf model in the Aria Evo X range, created for listeners who want the natural, expressive character of Focal’s Flax technology in a loudspeaker that fits comfortably into smaller listening spaces. Its 2-way bass-reflex design combines a 6.5-inch Flax bass/midrange driver with Focal’s TAM tweeter to deliver a balanced presentation with articulate bass, an open midrange and smooth, detailed high frequencies.

At just 39 cm high, Aria Evo X N°1 is particularly well suited to an office, dedicated listening room or smaller living room. Focal recommends it for rooms from approximately 15 m² and listening distances of around 2 to 3 metres.

Natural Sound with the Focal Flax Cone

The 6.5-inch bass/midrange driver uses Focal’s patented Flax sandwich cone. High-quality French flax fibres are placed between two thin layers of fiberglass, creating a diaphragm that combines low mass, high rigidity and effective internal damping.

This construction is designed to reproduce voices and instruments with a natural tonal balance and very little coloration, while retaining the dynamics and bass control required for convincing music reproduction.

TMD Suspension for Greater Midrange Neutrality

The Flax driver incorporates Focal’s Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) surround. Carefully positioned damping elements stabilise the suspension and reduce unwanted resonances, particularly in the critical midrange region.

The result is cleaner articulation and improved neutrality, allowing vocals and acoustic instruments to retain their natural character even on complex recordings.

TAM Tweeter with Wide Dispersion

High frequencies are handled by Focal’s 1-inch aluminium/magnesium TAM tweeter. Its inverted dome uses the distinctive M-shaped profile developed to increase rigidity while preserving very low moving mass.

A dedicated waveguide and decompression chamber help control directivity and reduce disturbances caused by rear radiation. The result is precise yet smooth treble together with broad horizontal dispersion and a stable stereo image across a wider listening area.

Rigid Cabinet Construction

The Aria Evo X N°1 cabinet uses a highly rigid MDF structure with non-parallel side panels. This construction reduces internal standing waves and unwanted cabinet vibration, allowing the drivers to operate from a more neutral mechanical platform.

The front panel surrounding the tweeter is also shaped to optimise dispersion and improve soundstage precision.

Compact but Capable

Despite its relatively compact dimensions, Aria Evo X N°1 reaches down to 55 Hz within its ±3 dB response, with a low-frequency point of 47 Hz at -6 dB. Sensitivity is 89.5 dB, nominal impedance is 8 ohms and Focal recommends amplifiers rated between 25 and 120 watts.

For the best mechanical support and correct listening height, the loudspeaker can be combined with the optional Focal Aria S900 stand. The speaker attaches securely to the stand’s metal top plate, while integrated cable routing helps maintain a clean installation.

Distinctive Aria Evo X Design

Premium materials are an important part of the Aria Evo X identity. The leather-effect front panel is combined with a choice of Black High Gloss, Prime Walnut or distinctive Moss Green High Gloss finishes, allowing the N°1 to work equally well in traditional and contemporary interiors.
