Dynaudio Contour 20 Black Edition<\/strong> is a comprehensively upgraded version of the acclaimed Contour 20i, created as the pinnacle of four decades of Contour development. Far more than a cosmetic special edition, it introduces upgraded drive units, a new crossover, a redesigned bass-reflex system and exclusive all-black detailing throughout.<\/p>\n

Handmade at Dynaudio\u2019s factory in Skanderborg, Denmark, Contour 20 Black Edition combines compact standmount proportions with technology drawn directly from Dynaudio\u2019s higher-level reference loudspeakers.<\/p>\n

Esotar 3 from the Confidence series<\/h4>\n

High frequencies are handled by the 28 mm Esotar 3 soft-dome tweeter with Hexis<\/strong> \u2013 the same reference-level tweeter technology used in Dynaudio\u2019s Confidence range and M-series professional monitors.<\/p>\n

A powerful neodymium motor, lightweight aluminium voice coil, large rear chamber and carefully shaped internal airflow system reduce resonance and compression while preserving the smooth, natural character associated with Dynaudio\u2019s finest high-frequency drivers.<\/p>\n

New NeoTec-inspired mid\/bass driver<\/h4>\n

The 18 cm MSP mid\/bass driver uses a powerful neodymium magnet system<\/strong> and an extended aluminium voice coil to provide greater excursion, speed and control.<\/p>\n

Its one-piece Magnesium Silicate Polymer cone is mechanically connected directly to the voice coil through moulded balance ribs, while a glass-fibre voice-coil former helps reduce eddy currents and improve transient response.<\/p>\n

The result is greater attack, improved imaging and notably stronger low-frequency authority from a compact enclosure.<\/p>\n

Redesigned bass-reflex system<\/h4>\n

Contour 20 Black Edition uses a substantially enlarged rear-mounted bass-reflex port with flaring at both ends.<\/p>\n

Designed specifically to work with the upgraded woofer and deeper cabinet, the new port improves airflow, reduces unwanted turbulence and extends low-frequency performance while maintaining precision and control.<\/p>\n

Minimalist high-end crossover<\/h4>\n

A completely new second-order crossover<\/strong> has been developed specifically for the Black Edition.<\/p>\n

Dynaudio has deliberately reduced the component count while upgrading component quality, using premium Mundorf capacitors and resistors, a large air-core coil and high-quality internal cabling.<\/p>\n

The 3600 Hz crossover point is optimised for the Esotar 3 tweeter and upgraded 18 cm MSP driver, providing smooth integration, tightly controlled directivity and a clean, direct signal path.<\/p>\n
