Overview

The new Zeppelin updates an iconic design and makes it even more appealing for the streaming age. It’s based on a scalable platform that can be developed and upgraded with new features, such as multiroom capability, in the near future. All the key features previously found in Zeppelin Wireless are still present and where possible, upgraded. So now, the new Zeppelin offers AirPlay 2 and aptX Adaptive, alongside Spotify Connect.

Additionally, it includes both integrated Alexa voice control and integrated streaming service support from a wide range of providers, all accessed by the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. The result is a wireless speaker system that sounds just as good as ever – better, in fact – and is every bit as beautiful in both its dark and light finishes. But now, it’s much smarter and more flexible. With the new Zeppelin, you no longer have to choose between a fully featured product with the streaming services you need and a beautiful product with the sound you want. You can have both.

The new Zeppelin is built on the proven acoustic platform of the Zeppelin Wireless. This includes a thick-wall-section FEA-optimised enclosure with ‘controlled leak’ porting plus five channels of power amplification. In Zeppelin, there are stereo modules dedicated to the left and right tweeters and the left and right midrange drive units, respectively. The final stereo module is ‘bridged’ to power the single central woofer.

For high frequency, the Zeppelin uses the 25mm Double Dome tweeter, as used in our 600 Series Anniversary Edition. For midrange, it uses our proprietary Fixed Suspension Transducer (FST) technology in a pair of 90mm drive units – an approach that is found in all our premium floor-standing speakers, including our reference 800 Series Diamond models. For bass, there’s a revised 150mm subwoofer, developed from the unit found in the Zeppelin Wireless.

The easiest way to access your music on the new Zeppelin is via the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. This brings together a wide range of music services under one platform. Currently, that includes Deezer, NTS Radio, Qobuz, SoundCloud, TIDAL and TuneIn, with Amazon Music, Apple Music and Pandora expected to be added very soon. Dash Radio, Qplay and Ximalaya will be offered in certain markets too.

Just search for the artist, album or song you want to hear and you’ll be offered all the available options for that content across all the services you subscribe to. Use the ‘heart’ symbol to ‘love’ music that you particularly enjoy and the App will begin to learn your preferences on both artists and genres, which in turn helps it to tailor its recommendations to your tastes as you listen. It synchronizes your favorited content across the App and your chosen music services, radio stations and podcasts. You also get access to our specially curated Playlists, with carefully selected songs chosen by our acoustic team. As with previous Zeppelins, you’ll also find simple physical buttons for pause, play and volume up/down on the product itself.

Built-in Amazon Alexa voice control means you can easily play your favorite song, channel, or playlist with just a voice command. This is the first time support for any voice service has been integrated into a Bowers & Wilkins product.

The Music App is compatible with both iOS (including iPad) and Android devices. The multiroom functionality will be offered in the near future.

Integrated streaming services for direct access to your favorite music in up to 24-bit high-resolution quality from a wide range of streaming services, podcasts and radio stations, with control via the Bowers & Wilkins Music app. This is the first time any Zeppelin has been able to play high-resolution music.
