About Monitor Audio
Monitor Audio is not a retro brand and has no time for nostalgia. The team at Monitor Audio never rests on its laurels, and it doesn’t view past glories as a guarantee of future success. But Monitor Audio is proud of its past. The people, products, and innovations of the last 52 years have all played their part in creating the company it is today and where it will go next. Monitor Audio is happy to celebrate that past, but it’s more important to learn from it and use that understanding to inform the future. Monitor Audio is a technology company operating in a highly competitive market. It has been a key player in an industry that has made sensational leaps forward in the reproduction of recorded sound. Improvements that the pioneers who created the hi-fi industry out of nothing in the second half of the 20th century would find incomprehensible. Monitor Audio is extremely proud to have been at the forefront of those developments, but more importantly, it is determined to continue to be so in the future. Many of the goals, ideals, and beliefs held to be true when Monitor Audio started manufacturing loudspeakers out of a garage in Cambridge in 1972 remain at its core today. But it has had to evolve, improve, expand, and become more professional to ensure goals continue to be met, ideals are upheld, and beliefs remain true. This is vitally important to Monitor Audio and the people who trust it to deliver the best possible experience. When undertaking that pleasure we all share: listening to great-sounding music. What is great sound? Enter, our ‘Transparent Design Philosophy’… On one level, this is simple to answer: it’s sound that comes as close as possible to what the artist heard in the recording studio. The reality is far more complicated. For starters, anyone who has been in a recording studio will be aware that they don’t always sound fantastic. Sorry to dispel that myth, but it’s just a fact. Monitor Audio loudspeakers sound truthful and natural; they are engineered to reproduce music as the artist intended. A subtle but important difference. At its core, Monitor Audio’s mission is to develop loudspeakers that impose themselves as little as possible. Speakers that let the recording do the talking. Monitor Audio loudspeakers get closer to transparency than anyone else, through solid engineering, innovative research, and a mastery of science. To meet these demands, the Monitor Audio Group today employs a research & development department of 40 people—a massive investment in the search for the ultimate in sound reproduction. That R&D team has doubled in size over the last three years, and of those 40 people, around half are experts in the areas of software and electronics. While Monitor Audio’s future lies in delivering premium sound, the world in which the company seeks to excel demands seamless user experiences and cutting-edge innovation in an evolving array of fields. Today, Monitor Audio remains headquartered in Rayleigh, Essex, England (having moved from Cambridge in 1976), continuing its legacy of crafting high-quality loudspeakers for both home and commercial use. With a global presence and an expansive product line that includes high-fidelity two-channel speakers, advanced architectural speaker solutions, home cinema systems, outdoor speakers, lifestyle audio solutions, amplifiers, and streamers, the company serves a diverse customer base. We make high-fidelity products for people, not datasets or demographic groups. We don’t judge. No one must ‘qualify’ to buy and enjoy our products. And whatever they’re spending, our aim is the same: to ensure they get the most enhanced sound experience. We are Monitor Audio, and we invite you to Listen Again.
