The SPU 124<\/strong> features a revised generator system that allows a maximum output of 0.5 mV and reduces the requirements of high-gain transformers or active phono preamplifiers. While still using a highly polished bare elliptical stylus, the mass of the pen tip has been significantly reduced, resulting in reduced VTF and greater tracking ability.<\/p>\n

The THORENS<\/strong> SPU 124<\/strong> is a special version of the legendary Ortofon SPU<\/strong> sound box that is designed for optimal scanning behavior in combination with the THORENS TD 124 DD<\/strong> drive and the newly developed 124 tonearm. The generator, i.e. the \u201cmotor\u201d of the pickup, has been completely revised and the output voltage has been increased to 0.5mV (5cm\/sec). This measure reduces the subsequent amplification of the signal and reduces interference. A highly polished, reduced-mass, elliptical-cut \u201cnaked diamond\u201d enhances the pickup\u2019s tracking ability.<\/p>\n
