Audio Physic Avantera RQ is the latest evolution of one of the most accomplished loudspeakers in the Reference Line. Built around a sophisticated 4-way architecture, it combines extraordinary dynamic capability, deep low-frequency extension and exceptional spatial precision with the latest generation of Audio Physic driver and room-adaptation technologies.

The RQ generation introduces two major developments: RECOTec diaphragm technology and Q-SET bass adjustment. Together, they allow the Avantera RQ to reproduce both the smallest musical nuances and large-scale dynamic peaks with greater transparency, control and naturalness, while also making its powerful low-frequency performance easier to integrate into real listening rooms.

RECOTec – Greater Precision and Openness

The tweeter, midrange driver and front-mounted midwoofer use Audio Physic’s latest RECOTec diaphragm material. RECOTec combines a carbon-fibre fabric with a high-purity polypropylene matrix, creating a structure with very high rigidity and excellent internal damping.

This enables the drivers to follow even very small changes in the musical signal with exceptional accuracy. Complex passages remain transparent and clearly structured, while voices and instruments separate naturally from the loudspeakers and retain their individual tonal character.

HHCT V+ Tweeter

High frequencies are reproduced by the selected 39 mm HHCT V+ Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter. The fifth-generation driver uses a RECOTec cone and is individually selected for the Plus specification.

The HHCT V+ also uses exclusive WBT Plasma Protect™ contacts, helping preserve signal integrity and long-term electrical stability. The result is a refined, open and highly detailed treble presentation with excellent reproduction of fine overtones and spatial information.

HHCM V SL+ Spiderless Midrange Driver

The 150 mm HHCM V SL+ midrange driver also uses RECOTec technology and Audio Physic’s spiderless construction. Eliminating the conventional centering spider reduces mechanical resistance and compression while improving airflow behind the diaphragm.

As a selected Plus-version driver, the HHCM V SL+ also uses WBT Plasma Protect™ contacts. Voices and instruments are reproduced with exceptional openness, articulation and dynamic freedom throughout the critical midrange.

7-Inch RECOTec Midwoofer

A 180 mm / 7-inch front-mounted midwoofer covers the upper-bass region. It combines a RECOTec diaphragm with Audio Physic’s Double Surround construction, replacing the conventional spider with a second surround to reduce mechanical braking forces.

The driver is also integrated into the Q-SET system, allowing its low-frequency behaviour to be adapted together with the internal woofer.

Concealed 11-Inch Woofer

The deepest frequencies are reproduced by a powerful 280 mm / 11-inch aluminium-cone woofer positioned inside the cabinet. This concealed woofer allows the Avantera RQ to generate substantial low-frequency energy and extension down to 27 Hz while preserving the elegant proportions of its narrow front baffle.

The internal bass system provides the scale and authority normally associated with a significantly larger enclosure while keeping the visible design refined and visually unobtrusive.

Q-SET Room-Adaptive Bass Control

The Avantera RQ uses Audio Physic’s Q-SET technology to adapt the low-frequency response to the loudspeaker’s position in the room. The midwoofer and woofer employ dual voice coils, allowing the damping characteristics of the bass system to be adjusted from the rear panel.

Three selectable settings allow the bass balance to be optimised for free-standing placement, positioning closer to a rear wall or more acoustically demanding locations. Q-SET does not simply increase or reduce bass output; its purpose is to maintain the correct relationship between extension, precision and control.

The system is designed to operate without significantly altering the impedance curve presented to the amplifier, and the settings can be changed during normal music playback.

Exceptional Dynamic Range

The Avantera RQ is designed to preserve musical detail across an exceptionally wide dynamic range. At low listening levels, fine gradations and subtle spatial information remain clearly audible, while large-scale orchestral, rock or electronic passages can be reproduced with substantial energy and composure.

This ability to move effortlessly between intimate and highly dynamic musical moments is a defining characteristic of the Avantera RQ.

Mechanically Decoupled Construction

Audio Physic applies mechanical decoupling throughout the Avantera RQ. Drivers, crossover networks, connection terminal and cabinet bracing are mechanically isolated from the main enclosure to reduce unwanted vibration and micro-vibration.

Keeping the cabinet mechanically quiet allows the drivers to transfer the energy of the music into the room without unwanted coloration from the enclosure itself.

Sandwich Cabinet and Advanced Internal Bracing

The cabinet uses Audio Physic’s Sandwich Cabinet Construction together with Ceramic Foam and Honeycomb structural elements. Ceramic Foam provides extremely high rigidity while consisting largely of air, allowing the cabinet to be reinforced without unnecessarily reducing internal working volume.

Honeycomb Sandwich Board combines low mass with high stiffness and excellent resistance to structural resonance. In glass-finished versions, the relatively high mass of the external glass panels provides an additional damping effect.

Vibration Control Terminal

The connection terminal is mechanically decoupled from the cabinet using Audio Physic’s Vibration Control Terminal concept. High-quality binding posts provide the electrical connection while minimising the influence of structural vibration on the signal path.

Single-wiring is standard, while a bi-wiring / bi-amping terminal is available as an option.

VCF V Magnetic Plus Included

The Avantera RQ is supplied with Audio Physic VCF V Magnetic Plus M8 speaker feet as standard. The loudspeaker is mechanically decoupled from the floor through a magnetic suspension principle, helping reduce vibration transmission between the speaker and the supporting surface.

The system also provides a stable mechanical foundation and helps protect sensitive flooring.

Glass and Real-Wood Finishes

Unlike some of the other new RQ models, the Avantera RQ is currently available in both glass and selected real-wood finishes. Standard glass options are Black High Gloss, White High Gloss and Anthracite High Gloss.

Audio Physic also lists Rosewood High Gloss and Black Ebony High Gloss as genuine real-wood veneer options. Availability may vary by market.
