Audio Physic Cardeas RQ is the flagship loudspeaker of the Audio Physic Reference Line and represents the most advanced expression of the company’s current engineering philosophy. The new RQ generation combines completely revised driver technology, RECOTec diaphragm material, Q-SET room adaptation and an elaborate multi-sandwich cabinet to deliver exceptional transparency, dynamics and spatial precision.

Rather than being a cosmetic evolution of the previous Cardeas, the Cardeas RQ introduces fundamental changes throughout the loudspeaker. From the tweeter and midrange section to the dual midwoofers and bass system, the new generation is designed to reveal more musical information at both very low and very high listening levels while preserving effortless control.

RECOTec – a New Generation of Driver Technology

The Cardeas RQ introduces Audio Physic’s RECOTec diaphragm technology across the tweeter, midrange and midwoofer sections. RECOTec combines a carbon-fibre structure with a high-purity polypropylene matrix, creating a diaphragm with extremely high rigidity and excellent internal damping.

The material is designed to minimise unwanted resonances while preserving a natural tonal character. This enables very small changes in level, texture and spatial information to be reproduced with exceptional precision, even at low listening volumes.

Selected HHCT V+ Tweeter

High frequencies are reproduced by the 39 mm HHCT V+ Hyper Holographic Cone Tweeter. This fifth-generation driver uses RECOTec diaphragm technology and is individually selected for the Plus specification.

Exclusive WBT Plasma Protect™ contacts are used to optimise long-term signal integrity. The result is a highly resolved yet natural treble presentation with exceptional reproduction of fine overtones, spatial cues and ambience.

HHCM V SL+ Spiderless Midrange Driver

The 150 mm HHCM V SL+ midrange driver also uses RECOTec technology and Audio Physic’s spiderless construction. By eliminating the conventional centering spider, mechanical resistance and compression are reduced while airflow behind the diaphragm is improved.

The selected Plus-version driver uses WBT Plasma Protect™ contacts and is designed to reproduce voices and instruments with outstanding openness, articulation and dynamic freedom.

Dual 7-Inch RECOTec Midwoofers

Two 180 mm / 7-inch midwoofers handle the upper-bass and lower-midrange region. Their Double Surround construction replaces the conventional spider with an additional surround, reducing mechanical braking forces and allowing the diaphragms to respond more freely to the music signal.

The drivers use RECOTec diaphragm technology and are integrated into the Q-SET system, providing fast, controlled and highly articulate bass reproduction.

Dual Concealed 11-Inch Woofers

The deepest frequencies are reproduced by two powerful 280 mm / 11-inch aluminium-cone woofers concealed inside the cabinet. This internal bass architecture allows the Cardeas RQ to achieve substantial low-frequency authority and extension down to 23 Hz while maintaining an elegant external form.

The concealed woofer system provides the scale and impact normally associated with far larger loudspeakers without compromising the narrow frontal profile and refined appearance of the Cardeas RQ.

Q-SET Room-Adaptive Bass Control

Audio Physic’s Q-SET system allows the behaviour of the woofer and midwoofer sections to be adapted to the loudspeaker’s position in the listening room. Rear-panel controls allow the damping characteristics of the bass system to be adjusted for different placement conditions.

This is particularly useful when the speakers are positioned closer to rear or side walls, where room reinforcement can otherwise produce excessive low-frequency energy. Q-SET allows the bass response to remain deep and powerful while preserving precision and control.

The adjustment is achieved through specially configured dual voice coils and is designed to avoid significant changes to the impedance curve presented to the amplifier.

Exceptional Dynamic Range

The new driver generation significantly expands the usable dynamic range of the Cardeas RQ. Fine musical information remains clearly resolved during quiet passages, while large-scale dynamic peaks can be reproduced with impressive authority and composure.

This ability to retain detail, tonal differentiation and spatial information across a wide range of listening levels is one of the defining characteristics of the new Cardeas RQ.

Advanced Multi-Sandwich Cabinet

The Cardeas RQ uses an elaborate asymmetric multi-sandwich enclosure. Internally, a high-strength honeycomb core is combined with multiplex material to achieve exceptional rigidity, while the outer structure uses a glass-elastomer composite for high internal damping.

This combination is designed to suppress cabinet resonances and prevent stored mechanical energy from colouring the sound. The enclosure therefore provides an exceptionally stable foundation for the driver system.

Audio Physic PowerTrain™

The Cardeas RQ incorporates Audio Physic’s PowerTrain™ concept, which focuses on transferring the kinetic energy of the drivers as efficiently and accurately as possible. Spiderless driver construction, mechanical decoupling and carefully controlled vibration paths work together to reduce energy storage and unwanted resonance.

The result is a presentation that combines speed, transparency and large-scale dynamics without sacrificing natural tonal balance.

Vibration Control Throughout the Loudspeaker

Mechanical vibration is addressed throughout the Cardeas RQ. Drivers, crossover sections and the connection terminal are carefully isolated from unwanted cabinet vibration to protect the integrity of the electrical and acoustic signal paths.

The connection terminal uses Audio Physic’s Vibration Control Terminal concept, while single-wiring is standard and bi-wiring / bi-amping is available on request.

VCF V Magnetic Plus Included

The Cardeas RQ is supplied with Audio Physic VCF V Magnetic Plus M8 speaker feet. The magnetic decoupling principle reduces the transmission of vibration between the loudspeaker and the floor while providing a stable mechanical foundation.

This system also helps protect sensitive flooring and forms an integral part of Audio Physic’s approach to mechanical resonance control.

Contemporary Glass Finishes

The standard Cardeas RQ is offered in Glass Black, Glass White and Glass Anthracite. These glass surfaces are part of the cabinet’s damping concept rather than merely decorative elements.

A special Glass Rosewood High Gloss finish is also available on request. Unlike the previous Cardeas generation, this is a glass finish and not a conventional real-wood veneer.
