Norah Jones – The Fall LP

Norah Jones – The Fall LP

The Fall is the fourth studio album by American singer, songwriter and pianist Norah Jones. Originally released in 2009, the album marked a noticeable shift from the intimate jazz-pop sound of her earlier records, bringing in stronger elements of folk rock, blues, alternative pop and guitar-driven songwriting.

Produced by Jacquire King, the album features a new group of collaborators and musicians and presents a darker, more textured side of Norah Jones. The record includes Chasing Pirates, Even Though, Light As A Feather, Young Blood, I Wouldn’t Need You, Waiting, It’s Gonna Be, You’ve Ruined Me, Back To Manhattan, Stuck, December, Tell Yer Mama and Man Of The Hour.

Among the album’s highlights are Chasing Pirates, Young Blood, Back To Manhattan and Man Of The Hour, combining Jones’s unmistakable vocal style with a more contemporary and atmospheric production than on her earlier albums.

This 180 gram vinyl reissue was released by Blue Note on 21 June 2021 and is presented in a gatefold sleeve. It is a strong vinyl edition for Norah Jones fans and listeners who appreciate warm vocals, organic instrumentation and sophisticated singer-songwriter recordings.

On a good hi-fi system, The Fall should sound warm, intimate and richly textured: Norah Jones’s voice remains firmly focused while guitars, piano, electric keyboards and subtle percussion create a natural sense of depth and space. The album’s restrained production and organic instrumentation make it particularly rewarding for relaxed, attentive listening.
