Description

Sonus Faber Olympica V G3 Floorstanding Speakers

The Sonus Faber Olympica V G3 is the flagship floorstanding loudspeaker of the third-generation Olympica collection. Designed to deliver full-scale dynamics, deep and controlled bass, exceptional vocal realism and a spacious soundstage, it combines advanced acoustic technologies derived from the Suprema system with Sonus Faber’s unmistakable Italian craftsmanship.

Its three-way architecture incorporates a DAD™ Arrow Point silk-dome tweeter, a dedicated Camelia paper-cone midrange driver and three 165 mm woofers. The asymmetrical lute-shaped cabinet, sealed cork-damped midrange chamber and vented bass enclosure work together to minimise unwanted resonances while preserving clarity, tonal richness and natural musical expression.

Flagship Three-Way Design

The Olympica V G3 uses a true three-way configuration in which each driver section is dedicated to a specific part of the audible spectrum. A 28 mm tweeter reproduces the high frequencies, a 165 mm Camelia driver handles the critical midrange, and three 165 mm paper-cone woofers provide low-frequency extension, scale and dynamic authority.

Crossover points at 370 Hz and 2390 Hz allow the individual drivers to operate within their optimal ranges while maintaining a coherent transition from deep bass through voices and instruments to the highest frequencies.

DAD™ Arrow Point Silk-Dome Tweeter

The 28 mm extended-frequency tweeter incorporates Sonus Faber’s DAD™ — Damped Apex Dome — technology. The Arrow Point element controls the central apex of the silk dome, reducing unwanted movement and improving high-frequency precision.

This design allows fine transient information, upper harmonics and spatial details to be reproduced with clarity and refinement. The tweeter extends the loudspeaker’s response to 40 kHz while maintaining the smooth and natural tonal balance associated with Sonus Faber.

Camelia Paper-Cone Midrange

The dedicated 165 mm Camelia midrange driver was originally developed for Sonus Faber’s reference Suprema loudspeaker. Its distinctive non-circular diaphragm takes inspiration from the natural geometry of the camellia flower.

The irregular membrane shape helps reduce unwanted resonances while allowing the full diaphragm surface to radiate towards the listener. A copper cap contributes to controlled driver behaviour, producing highly transparent vocals, realistic instrumental timbres and precise articulation throughout the midrange.

Sealed Cork-Damped Midrange Chamber

The tweeter and Camelia midrange driver are housed within a dedicated sealed acoustic chamber, isolating them from the considerable internal pressure generated by the three woofers.

This chamber incorporates a specially shaped natural cork damping structure developed through computer simulation. The organic cork form controls internal reflections and resonances while helping preserve the natural texture, clarity and immediacy of voices and instruments.

Three 165 mm Paper-Cone Woofers

Three 165 mm paper-cone woofers give the Olympica V G3 the low-frequency extension and physical authority required for large-scale music reproduction. The increased diaphragm area allows the speaker to move substantial amounts of air while maintaining speed, definition and control.

The vented bass enclosure supports a frequency response extending down to 37 Hz, allowing orchestral recordings, electronic music, percussion and cinema soundtracks to be reproduced with convincing depth and dynamic impact.

Asymmetrical Lute-Shaped Cabinet

The cabinet follows Sonus Faber’s distinctive asymmetrical lute-inspired geometry. Its curved profile reduces parallel internal surfaces, helping suppress standing waves and internal resonances that could otherwise colour the sound.

The enclosure combines hand-finished natural wood with solid aluminium structural elements and leather detailing. Its carefully balanced proportions provide the internal volume required for the triple-woofer system while retaining the sculptural elegance of the Olympica collection.

Contemporary Aluminium Detailing

Matte grey sandblasted aluminium elements give the Olympica G3 collection a refined contemporary appearance. Polished 45-degree chamfers introduce subtle highlights and emphasise the precision of the cabinet construction.

The front baffle and curved cabinet sides are finished in hand-selected natural wood, creating visual continuity across the loudspeaker’s surfaces.

High Sensitivity and Powerful Amplifier Compatibility

With a sensitivity of 90 dB, a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a recommended amplifier power range of 50 to 400 watts per channel, the Olympica V G3 is suitable for high-quality integrated amplifiers and powerful separate preamplifier and power-amplifier systems.

Four binding posts provide separate connections for the mid-high and low-frequency sections, supporting conventional single wiring as well as bi-wiring and bi-amping configurations.

Walnut Wood and Wenge Wood Finishes

The Olympica V G3 is available in two hand-finished natural wood options: Walnut Wood and Wenge Wood. Both versions are complemented by solid aluminium components and leather detailing.

Available finishes: Walnut Wood and Wenge Wood.
