A projector that doesn’t ask for a dedicated room

Most home cinema projectors want a permanent spot: fixed mount, calibrated screen, curtains drawn. The Cine Play 1 is built for something more casual — set it on a shelf, in the garden, or wherever the evening takes you, and its automatic alignment handles focus and keystone correction on its own. That’s the trade-off Leica made here: less about a purpose-built cinema room, more about actually using the thing on a Tuesday night.

Image quality that carries the Leica name

Inside is a triple RGB laser light source rated for more than 25,000 hours of use, paired with a Leica Summicron lens built to the same optical standards Leica applies to its cameras. Together they push out up to 3,000 ANSI lumens at 4K, with color handled by Leica’s own Image Optimization processing rather than an off-the-shelf picture mode. In practice that means a projected image that holds its contrast even with some ambient light in the room — useful if you’re not blacking out every window for movie night.

Built to move with you

At around 6.7 kg and finished in aluminium and glass, the Cine Play 1 is light enough to carry between rooms but solid enough that it doesn’t feel like a gadget. The motorised lens covers screen sizes from 65 up to 300 inches, so the same projector works for an intimate setup on a small wall or a proper big-screen evening outside. An optional Floor Stand is available separately if you’d rather give it a permanent, sculptural spot in a room.

Everything already built in

Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connect the Cine Play 1 to your network and devices, with Apple AirPlay 2 for casting from a phone or laptop. The built-in smart interface carries the main streaming apps, so a lot of evenings need nothing more than the remote in hand. For everything else, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, two USB ports, and a LAN connection cover consoles, streaming boxes, and external drives.

Sound that doesn’t need a separate system

Two 10-watt speakers with DTS Virtual:X handle the audio side without a soundbar, giving dialogue and effects more width and depth than you’d expect from a projector this size. It’s not a substitute for a full surround setup, but for a casual film night it’s more than enough on its own.
