R_volution PlayerPro 8K TV Media Player

The R_volution PlayerPro 8K TV is a high-end universal media player developed for serious home cinema systems and large digital film libraries. It combines powerful local-file playback, premium streaming support, dual internal hard-drive storage and advanced video processing with a hardware architecture engineered specifically for high-quality audio and video reproduction.

Winner of the EISA Media Player 2026–2027 award, the PlayerPro 8K TV was recognised for its combination of 8K HDR playback, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, extensive storage capacity, advanced connectivity, precision clocking and R_volution’s integrated media-library software.

8K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision and HDR10+

The PlayerPro 8K TV supports video output up to 8K Ultra HD at 60 frames per second and can play modern high-efficiency formats including AV1, HEVC/H.265 and VP9. Dolby Vision is supported across compatible UHD ISO, BDMV, MKV, MPEG-TS, M2TS and MP4 content, while HDR10+ provides dynamic metadata for compatible displays.

Integrated Dolby VS10 processing allows conversion between SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision formats and provides high-quality tone mapping for displays with different HDR capabilities. AI-PQ and AI-SR processing can also improve local contrast, colour, detail and upscaling when using the Android TV platform.

Full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray Menu Support

The PlayerPro 8K TV supports UHD ISO, Blu-ray ISO and BDMV structures with full menu navigation. This provides access to disc menus, alternate cuts, bonus material, bookmarks and seamless branching directly from stored movie files, making the player particularly suitable for users maintaining a full-quality digital disc library.

EISA Media Player 2026–2027

The Expert Imaging and Sound Association selected the R_volution PlayerPro 8K TV as its EISA Media Player 2026–2027. The award highlighted the player’s Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, 8K HDR output, dual-drive storage capacity, Amlogic processor architecture, TCXO clock, linear power supply and extensive connectivity for advanced home cinema systems.

Dual Internal HDD Bays – Up to 64 TB

Two hidden 3.5-inch SATA drive bays allow up to two internal hard drives to be installed, with support for drives of up to 32 TB each and a total internal storage capacity of up to 64 TB. Hard drives are not included.

Additional content can be played from external USB storage, networked computers and NAS devices, allowing R_video to combine media stored across several locations into a single organised library.

R_video Media Center

R_video automatically scans compatible local and network storage and builds a visual movie and TV-series library with cover artwork, backgrounds, cast information, directors, ratings, release dates and other metadata.

Collections can be filtered and sorted, custom categories can be created and movie soundtracks and trailers can be integrated into the browsing experience. The interface also supports CinemaScope displays in 2.35:1, 2.39:1 and 2.40:1 formats and allows users to create and share favourite scenes from movies and concerts.

Android TV and Premium Streaming

A separate Amlogic S905X4-K platform provides Android TV functionality alongside the dedicated local-media environment. Widevine L1 DRM enables compatible premium streaming applications to operate at high resolutions where supported by the service, application and region.

Services including Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, Max and other compatible applications can therefore be used from the same player that manages the local movie library.

Dual-Processor Architecture

The PlayerPro 8K TV uses two Amlogic processors. The main S928X platform combines four ARM Cortex-A55 cores with a high-performance Cortex-A76 core, while the dedicated S905X4-K platform handles Android TV functions. An ARM Mali-G57 GPU, 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal eMMC storage provide the processing resources required for the R_video interface, indexing and high-resolution playback.

Dual HDMI Outputs and Dual HDMI Inputs

A main HDMI 2.1a audio/video output supports video up to 8K/60p, while a separate HDMI 1.4 audio-only output allows audio to be routed independently to an AV receiver or processor. This is particularly useful in systems where the display supports current-generation video standards but the AV electronics do not.

Two HDMI 2.1 inputs also allow external source devices to be connected through the PlayerPro 8K TV and used as part of an integrated HDMI switching system.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D

High-resolution home cinema audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D are supported through HDMI, together with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and multichannel LPCM. The player can bitstream advanced soundtracks to a compatible AV processor or receiver and can also decode supported formats to LPCM.

Precision TCXO Master Clock

A high-precision 24 MHz temperature-compensated crystal oscillator is used across key digital audio and video circuits. The TCXO clock serves both HDMI outputs as well as USB audio, optical, coaxial and analogue audio sections, with the aim of maintaining stable timing and reducing jitter.

Linear Power Supply with Toroidal Transformer

Unlike many conventional media players that rely on compact switching power supplies, the PlayerPro 8K TV uses an internal linear power supply built around an 81-watt oxygen-free-copper toroidal transformer. Toshiba and Lintec linear regulators, together with selected Nichicon, Nippon Chemical and WIMA components, are used throughout the power and signal circuitry.

Extensive Digital Connectivity

The rear panel provides HDMI audio/video and audio-only outputs, two HDMI inputs, three USB 3.0 ports, optical and true 75-ohm coaxial digital audio outputs, stereo RCA analogue output, Gigabit Ethernet and dedicated connections for Wi-Fi, RF and external IR control. A USB 2.0 connection is also provided on the front panel.

Designed for Advanced Home Cinema Integration

IR, RF and IP control support makes the PlayerPro 8K TV suitable for both conventional systems and professionally integrated home cinemas. Compatibility with control platforms including Control4, Crestron, RTI and other automation systems, together with the supplied rack-mount ears, allows it to be installed as part of a dedicated equipment rack.
