Aurender MC10 Reference Master Clock

The Aurender MC10 Reference Master Clock uses a high-stability rubidium module to generate a precise 10MHz timing reference for compatible Aurender digital sources, DACs and other clock-enabled audio components. Four independent BNC outputs—two 75-ohm and two 50-ohm—allow several devices to be synchronised simultaneously, while USB Link and 12V trigger control provide convenient system integration.
Aurender MC10 Reference Master Clock
The Aurender MC10 is a high-precision external master clock designed to improve timing accuracy in compatible digital audio systems. Its rubidium-based 10MHz reference signal can synchronise an Aurender digital source, a compatible DAC and other clock-enabled components, allowing them to operate from the same stable timing reference.
Developed as a more focused alternative to the flagship MC20, the MC10 retains the rubidium master clock generator, dedicated power architecture and vibration-control system while omitting the specialised word clock section. This makes it particularly suitable for systems built around components equipped with a conventional 10MHz master clock input.
Rubidium-Based 10MHz Master Clock
The MC10 uses a high-stability rubidium clock module to generate its 10MHz reference signal. Rubidium clocking provides excellent short-term frequency stability and very low phase noise, helping reduce timing uncertainty before the digital audio signal reaches the conversion stage.
By stabilising the clocking of compatible source components and DACs, the MC10 is designed to improve time-domain coherence and allow low-level musical, tonal and spatial information to be reproduced with greater precision.
Four Independent Master Clock Outputs
Four BNC master clock outputs allow several compatible components to be synchronised simultaneously. Two outputs use a 75-ohm impedance for Aurender digital sources and other compatible equipment, while two 50-ohm outputs support DACs, digital processors and network components requiring a 50-ohm connection.
Each output delivers the same 10MHz rubidium-generated reference signal at 0.7Vrms. Matching the impedance of the output, cable and receiving component is essential for preserving signal integrity and avoiding reflections or additional jitter.
Synchronisation of Source and DAC
The MC10 can be connected only to a compatible Aurender source, but the greatest system-wide benefit can be achieved when both the digital source and DAC accept an external 10MHz reference. In this configuration, both components operate from the same master clock rather than relying entirely on independent internal timing references.
Compatible Aurender components include models equipped with a dedicated clock input, such as the N20, N30SA, W20, W20SE and AP20. The additional 50-ohm and 75-ohm outputs also provide compatibility with selected DACs and other digital audio products from external manufacturers.
Optimised for S/PDIF and AES/EBU Playback
External clock synchronisation is most relevant when the Aurender source is connected to the DAC through a synchronous digital interface such as coaxial S/PDIF, BNC or AES/EBU. In this configuration, the improved clock reference directly affects the timing of the digital output signal transmitted by the source.
An asynchronous USB Audio connection operates differently because data flow is controlled by the DAC-side clock. For this reason, synchronising the Aurender source with the MC10 does not provide the same clocking benefit to the USB Audio signal path.
Vibration-Controlled Rubidium Module
The sensitive rubidium clock module is installed inside a dedicated spring-loaded enclosure designed to reduce the transmission of mechanical vibration. The module is removable and is supplied separately in protective shock-absorbing packaging for safe transportation.
Installation does not require specialised tools, but the rubidium module should be removed and returned to its protective packaging whenever the MC10 is transported or shipped.
Automatic Power Control
A USB Link connection allows the MC10 to switch on and off together with a compatible Aurender digital source. Alternatively, the 3.5mm trigger input can be connected to equipment providing a compatible 12V trigger signal.
Both control options are provided for convenience and do not carry an audio signal. The MC10 can also be operated independently using the front-panel power button and rear AC switch.
Warm-Up and Operational Stability
After power-up, the rubidium module requires several minutes to reach its optimal operating temperature. The illuminated ring around the front-panel power button flashes during warm-up and remains steadily illuminated after the clock has stabilised.
For consistent thermal stability and immediate availability, Aurender recommends leaving the MC10 powered on during regular use, except during extended periods of inactivity, electrical storms or mains power interruptions.
Focused Reference Clocking
Unlike the MC20, the MC10 does not include sample-rate-dependent word clock outputs or automatic S/PDIF word clock synchronisation. Instead, it concentrates exclusively on generating four stable 10MHz master clock signals for compatible digital components.
This focused architecture makes the Aurender MC10 a dedicated reference timing upgrade for high-end systems that require rubidium-based 10MHz clocking without the additional word clock facilities of the MC20.

Build a Digital Source System with Aurender
Aurender is designed for customers who treat the digital source as a serious hi-fi component. A well-chosen music server or network player can become the foundation of the whole system, especially when it is paired with a high-quality DAC, suitable digital cables, stable network infrastructure and carefully matched amplification. For systems with an external DAC, Aurender music servers and digital-output streamers are a strong choice. For customers who prefer a simpler one-box digital source, Aurender also offers models with built-in DAC sections and analogue outputs. This makes the brand suitable both for compact systems and for reference-level digital front ends.Recommended categories for building an Aurender-based system:- Music Servers - Network Players & Streamers - DACs - Network Audio - Digital Cables - Network CablesTo discuss the right Aurender solution for your system, contact us.
