Nordost QNET Audio Network Switch is designed for high-performance streaming audio systems where the network infrastructure is considered an important part of the complete hi-fi chain.

QNET is a layer-2 Ethernet switch with five independent RJ45 ports, developed specifically with audio performance in mind. Unlike a standard consumer network switch, QNET was designed from the ground up to support low-noise operation and stable digital audio transmission.

In a modern network audio system, streamers, music servers, NAS storage, routers and switches all work together before the signal reaches the DAC. A dedicated audio network switch can help organise this part of the system and provide a more stable connection between audio-related network components.

Nordost QNET uses a high-speed, multi-layered, impedance-controlled internal layout, a low-noise oscillator for the main clock and dedicated internal power supplies to help reduce interference, crosstalk and noise cross-contamination inside the switch.

The five ports are optimised for different roles. Three ports support Gigabit Ethernet connections for routers and general network devices, while two fixed 100 Mbps ports are intended for primary audio servers, players or external media sources where additional noise reduction can be beneficial.

For best results, QNET should be considered together with the rest of the streaming infrastructure: Ethernet cables, power supply, router placement, streamer quality and DAC connection. It can be used with suitable Network Cables, quality Streamers & Network Players and carefully chosen Power Supplies, Controllers, and Conditioners where appropriate.
