Description

Tangerine Dream – 50 Years Of Phaedra: At The Barbican 3LP

50 Years Of Phaedra: At The Barbican captures Tangerine Dream returning to one of the most important works in the history of electronic music. Fifty years after the original Phaedra transformed the possibilities of sequencer-driven sound, the current line-up revisited its spirit in a special performance at London’s Barbican.

The concert features Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick, combining reinterpretations of the Phaedra material with later Tangerine Dream compositions and live improvisation. Rather than simply reproducing the 1974 album, the performance approaches its ideas with modern instruments and technology while retaining the atmosphere, movement and exploratory character that made the original recording so influential.

Across three LPs, the set includes Sequent C, 2024, Movements Of A Visionary, 2024, Mysterious Semblance At The Strand Of Nightmares, 2024, the multi-part Hippolytos Session, Phaedra 2024, Sorcerer Theme, Dolphin Dance, Rare Bird, Continuum, White Eagle, Raum and Phaedra 2022.

This 3LP black vinyl edition is presented in a gatefold sleeve and includes an 8-page booklet. Released by Kscope on 30 January 2026, it is a substantial live document for Tangerine Dream collectors and listeners interested in Berlin School electronics, ambient music, analogue sequencing and expansive instrumental soundscapes.

About Virgin
The legendary UK record label Virgin Records is where it all began. Richard Branson started selling records in the classified pages of Student magazine in 1970 under the name Virgin Mail Order. Soon, record sales were doing so well the team decided to transform into a bricks and mortar store on Oxford Street, London, and Virgin Records was born. It brought a fun twist to retail, offering a place to listen to records and relax with friends, and earned a reputation as an industry disruptor. From its humble beginnings, Virgin Records grew into an influential record label that proudly did things differently. During the 1970s it converted a sixteenth-century mansion into a private studio. Artists could spend weeks there working on their music. Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells was the first album Virgin Records released. It went on to be one of the biggest selling records of the 1970s and featured on the soundtrack to The Exorcist. Over the years, some of the biggest names in music have signed to Virgin Records, including Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones, Spice Girls and Taylor Swift. Virgin Records continues to operate as an imprint of EMI Records.
