Thorens EMT Tondose Exclusive Moving Coil Cartridge
4999,00 €
The Thorens EMT Tondose 124 Exclusive is the outcome of a partnership between Thorensand EMT, merging Thorens’ Swiss craftsmanship with EMT’s moving-coil cartridge technology. Tailored for the TD 124 DD Exclusive turntable, this cartridge represents a modern iteration of the “Tondose” that has been utilized in broadcast studios since 1965. Its structure is crafted from magnesium, incorporating materials such as ruby and gold. The Gyger diamond profile is specifically designed for optimal linear tracing. This cartridge facilitates accurate sound reproduction of analog recordings and adheres to contemporary precision standards.
A machined magnesium structure for complete stability
The body of the Tondose 124 Exclusive is distinguished by its one-piece construction, which is milled directly from a solid block of magnesium. This technical decision, which is far from insignificant, offers several critical advantages for sound reproduction quality. Magnesium, a metal known for its exceptional rigidity while remaining relatively lightweight at 25 grams, provides an impressive stiffness-to-mass ratio. This structural rigidity reduces parasitic resonances that could distort the audio signal, while the moderate weight ensures optimal compatibility with high-end tonearms.
The one-piece machining process removes joints and assemblies that could serve as potential sources of unwanted vibrations. In contrast to traditional molded bodies, this manufacturing method guarantees perfect material homogeneity and dimensional accuracy to within a hundredth of a millimeter. The surface of the body is finished with a distinctive matte texture which, in addition to its subtle and professional appearance, aids in dampening micro-vibrations.
The integrated SME connector significantly simplifies installation on a variety of compatible tonearms. This standardization, derived from the professional sector, enables quick and secure exchanges while ensuring stable and repeatable mechanical contact. The geometry of the body has been designed to enhance the dissipation of resonances into the arm, establishing a coherent mechanical pathway from the diamond to the turntable.

Build a Vinyl Setup with Thorens
Thorens is most often chosen as the foundation of a vinyl system. Start with the right turntable, then complete the chain with a suitable tonearm and cartridge, and finish with a quality phono preamplifier for proper gain and tonal balance.
