Nordost Sort Kones Resonance Control Supports

Nordost Sort Kones are dedicated resonance-control supports designed for use under hi-fi electronics, source components, power supplies and other audio equipment.

Unlike conventional isolation accessories, Sort Kones are designed around direct mechanical coupling. Their purpose is to provide a controlled path for mechanical energy generated inside audio components, such as vibration from transformers, capacitors and active circuits.

Each Sort Kone uses a three-part mechanically tuned construction. The available versions differ by material: AC uses aluminium elements with a ceramic coupling ball, BC uses bronze elements with a ceramic coupling ball, and TC uses titanium elements with a ceramic coupling ball.

Sort Kones are sold individually so the number can be chosen according to the component and system requirements. Many components can be supported with three Sort Kones, while larger or heavier components may benefit from four or more supports.

They can be used under CD players, DACs, streamers, preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers, phono stages, power supplies and selected Nordost QRT products. The best placement should be tested carefully, as different components and support surfaces may respond differently.

For best results, place Sort Kones between the component and the supporting surface, bypassing the component’s original soft feet where possible. Always make sure the component remains stable, level and safely supported.

Nordost Sort Kones are best suited to systems where the main components, cabling, power distribution and equipment support are already carefully selected. For simpler systems, upgrading the rack, component placement or main power foundation may be the more practical first step.
