Count Basie & Joe Turner – The Bosses Analogue Productions LP

Count Basie & Joe Turner – The Bosses Analogue Productions LP

Count Basie & Joe Turner – The Bosses brings together two giants of American blues and jazz in a hard-swinging session originally recorded for Pablo Records in 1973. With Big Joe Turner on vocals and Count Basie at the piano, the album combines Kansas City blues, jazz and effortless swing.

The outstanding supporting band includes Harry “Sweets” Edison on trumpet, J.J. Johnson on trombone, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis and Zoot Sims on tenor saxophone, Irving Ashby on guitar, Ray Brown on bass and Louie Bellson on drums.

This audiophile edition from Analogue Productions is pressed on 180 g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (QRP). Matthew Lutthans mastered the album at The Mastering Lab directly from the original analogue master tape, preserving the warmth, dynamics and natural presence of the original recording.

Songs such as Honeydripper, Honey Hush, Night Time Is the Right Time, Flip, Flop and Fly and Roll ’Em Pete showcase Turner in commanding form, backed by a band whose relaxed precision and powerful swing make The Bosses a standout late-career recording.
