The aim of the T+A A 200 power amplifier is to combine top performance as an amplifier with audiophile sound characteristics. On the one hand, this means 250 watts of continuous power per channel, on the other hand, this power just does not lead to a decrease in fine detail, resolution and detail dynamics. Their heat sinks are a technical necessity and a design statement in one: they impressively showcase every watt of power and ensure efficient heat dissipation even under maximum load.
Overview
The A 200 power amplifier was designed to function either as a powerful addition to existing systems or, in conjunction with the 200 Series, to be the powerful end of a perfectly matched chain of specialized audiophile equipment. We only believe in performance when we can apply it in practice with efficiency and precision. To achieve an optimum of sound quality, performance and efficiency, we have developed a completely new circuit topology. It combines T+A’s unique HV and high frequency sine wave power supply technologies with PURIFI’s own clock output stage technology. This is how it succeeds in turning untamed performance into audiophile excellence. All circuits and boards are designed and implemented by our development team and the PURIFI modules are implemented in them. The damping factor of the A 200 can be lowered if a warmer or softer sound image is desired depending on the Speaker.
T+A – Final Stage
The output stages used in the A 200 are Class D power amplifiers with PURIFI proprietary clock technology. The platform developed by the Danish technology company is currently the world’s leading concept for Class D power amplifiers and avoids the disadvantages of previous digital amplifiers. Previous digital amplifier concepts are limited by high load dependence on the impedance of the connected Speaker, distortion of the output signal, phase noise and increased distortion behavior at high power levels.
Network Part
Despite the efficiency advantage, conventional switched-mode power supplies have the disadvantage of generating disruptive interference that has a lasting negative impact on the sound. In response, we use our T+A high-frequency sine wave power supplies: Their pure sine wave clock and more than double the frequency of ordinary power supplies effectively compensate for this interference. Last interferences are eliminated by the intelligent recharging of the installed T+A filter capacitors.
After years of development, T+A engineers have succeeded in creating capacitors that recharge 100,000 times per second – 2,000 times more frequently than ordinary capacitors. This is the only way they can respond to short-term signal jumps and always provide the correct amount of electrical energy. Our sine wave power supplies are “hard” power supplies, they do not break down even under highest load and supply the power amplifiers with absolutely constant voltage.
