Arcam AVA35 Multi-Channel AV Amplifier

The Arcam AVA35 is the flagship integrated AV amplifier in the Radia AV range, designed for high-performance home cinema systems where music reproduction is just as important as immersive movie sound. It combines nine channels of Arcam Class G amplification with 16-channel surround processing, advanced room correction, extensive HDMI connectivity and integrated high-resolution music streaming.

Nine Channels of Arcam Class G Amplification

At the heart of the AVA35 are nine channels of Arcam’s Class G amplification. This topology combines the sound quality associated with traditional linear amplification with improved efficiency by dynamically using additional power supply voltage only when the musical or cinematic signal requires it.

The AVA35 delivers 145 watts per channel into 8 ohms with two channels driven across the full 20 Hz–20 kHz audio range and 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms under two-channel conditions. Even with seven channels operating simultaneously, it is rated at 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms, providing substantial power for demanding multi-channel loudspeaker systems.

16-Channel Processing

Although nine power amplifier channels are built into the AVA35, its processing architecture supports up to 16 channels. Sixteen RCA preamplifier outputs allow additional external power amplifiers to be added for larger immersive systems, extra height speakers or multiple subwoofers.

This makes the AVA35 suitable both as a complete integrated AV amplifier and as the central control component of a significantly more ambitious home cinema installation.

Flexible Matrix Channel Assignment

Matrix Channel Assignment gives the AVA35 considerably more flexibility when configuring its internal amplification. Channels can be reassigned according to the requirements of the system, allowing the available amplifier channels to be used where they provide the greatest benefit.

This is particularly useful in installations that combine internal and external amplification, multiple subwoofers or unconventional immersive speaker layouts.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D

The AVA35 supports a comprehensive range of immersive audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D. Additional processing includes Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Surround, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS Neural:X, DTS Virtual:X and MPEG-H.

With processing for up to 16 channels, the AVA35 can form the basis of a sophisticated three-dimensional audio system with loudspeakers positioned around and above the listening area.

Dirac Live Room Correction

Dirac Live Room Correction is included for acoustic optimisation of the complete loudspeaker system. Using measurements taken with the supplied microphone, Dirac analyses the interaction between the speakers and the listening room and applies correction in both the frequency and time domains.

For more advanced installations, the AVA35 can also be upgraded with Dirac Live Bass Control and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment, extending optimisation to multiple subwoofers and the interaction between all loudspeakers in the system.

8K HDMI Connectivity

Seven HDMI 2.1a inputs provide connectivity for modern video sources including UHD players, streaming devices and gaming consoles. Three HDMI outputs are available, with two outputs for Zone 1 and an additional output for Zone 2.

The AVA35 supports video resolutions up to 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz together with HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Gaming, Dolby Vision and HLG. Gaming features include Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode, while eARC on the primary Zone 1 output provides high-quality audio return from compatible televisions.

High-Resolution Music Streaming

Beyond home cinema, the AVA35 functions as a fully integrated network music player. It works directly with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect and also supports Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Internet Radio, podcasts and UPnP playback.

High-resolution audio is supported up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while Roon Ready certification allows the AVA35 to operate directly as an endpoint within a Roon music system.

Bluetooth 5.4 and Wireless Audio

Bluetooth 5.4 provides both receiving and transmitting functionality and includes Snapdragon Sound, LE Audio and Auracast support. Dual-band Wi-Fi provides network connectivity for streaming, control and system configuration.

Large Colour Display and Radia AV Control

A 6.5-inch high-resolution colour display presents operating information and music metadata clearly from the listening position. The Arcam Radia AV Control app provides access to setup, control, streaming, Internet Radio, podcasts and UPnP playback from compatible devices.

A backlit Bluetooth remote control is also supplied, allowing convenient operation without requiring direct line of sight to the amplifier.
