Arcam AVP45 Multi-Channel AV Processor

The Arcam AVP45 is a high-performance 16-channel AV processor developed as the control centre for sophisticated home cinema systems using separate power amplification. Part of the Radia AV Series, it combines advanced immersive audio processing, extensive balanced and single-ended connectivity, Dirac Live room correction, 8K HDMI switching and high-resolution network music streaming in a single dedicated processor.

16-Channel Immersive Audio Processing

The AVP45 can decode and process up to 16 audio channels, providing the flexibility required for complex Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D speaker configurations. Its processing architecture is designed for systems that extend well beyond conventional surround layouts, including installations with multiple height speakers and subwoofers.

Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Surround, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS Neural:X, DTS Virtual:X and MPEG-H are also supported, allowing the processor to handle a wide range of modern movie, television and multi-channel music formats.

Balanced XLR Outputs for All 16 Channels

The AVP45 provides both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs for all 16 processed channels. Balanced outputs are particularly valuable in high-performance installations using separate power amplifiers, helping maintain signal integrity over longer cable runs and reducing susceptibility to interference.

The processor is an ideal partner for external multi-channel amplification, including the Arcam PA9 Class G power amplifier, while its extensive outputs also make it suitable for systems combining several different power amplifiers.

Matrix Channel Assignment

Arcam’s Matrix Channel Assignment provides extensive freedom when configuring the 16 available channels. Individual channels can be assigned according to the requirements of the speaker system, giving installers and enthusiasts greater flexibility when creating unconventional immersive layouts, integrating multiple subwoofers or adapting the system as it evolves.

Advanced DAC Architecture

The AVP45 uses the same high-performance digital-to-analogue conversion architecture developed for Arcam’s flagship stereo hi-fi systems. This reflects the company’s emphasis on musical performance as well as cinematic impact, making the AVP45 suitable for systems where stereo and multi-channel music reproduction are just as important as films.

Dirac Live Room Correction

Dirac Live Room Correction is included to optimise the interaction between the loudspeakers and the listening room. Using acoustic measurements, the system can compensate for room-related frequency and timing problems to improve tonal balance, imaging and integration across the complete surround system.

The AVP45 can also be upgraded with Dirac Live Bass Control and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment. These advanced options provide more comprehensive control of multiple subwoofers and the acoustic interaction between speakers throughout the room.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D

Support for the principal immersive cinema formats makes the AVP45 suitable for demanding premium home theatre installations. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X provide object-based three-dimensional audio, while IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D expand the range of compatible cinematic and multi-channel content.

8K HDMI Connectivity

Seven HDMI 2.1a inputs accommodate modern source components such as UHD disc players, media streamers and gaming consoles. Three HDMI outputs are provided, including two outputs for the main Zone 1 system and a dedicated Zone 2 output.

The AVP45 supports video resolutions up to 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz together with HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Gaming, Dolby Vision and HLG. Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode provide additional compatibility with modern gaming systems, while eARC on the primary HDMI output allows high-quality audio to be received directly from a compatible television.

High-Resolution Music Streaming

In addition to its home cinema capabilities, the AVP45 is a comprehensive network music source. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect are integrated alongside Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Internet Radio, podcasts and UPnP playback.

High-resolution music is supported up to 24-bit/192 kHz, and Roon Ready certification enables the AVP45 to function directly as an endpoint in a Roon-based music system.

Bluetooth 5.4 and Wireless Connectivity

Bluetooth 5.4 supports both receiving and transmitting, together with technologies including Snapdragon Sound, LE Audio and Auracast. Dual-band Wi-Fi provides network access for streaming, control and system configuration.

Radia AV Control and 6.5-Inch Display

A large 6.5-inch high-resolution colour display clearly presents operating information and music metadata from the listening position. The Arcam Radia AV Control app provides additional setup, playback and system control from compatible iOS, Android and Windows devices.

A backlit Bluetooth remote control is also supplied, allowing convenient operation without requiring direct line of sight to the processor.
