Hegel H200 Connected is designed for listeners who want a complete modern music system without compromising amplifier performance. Together with the fully analog Hegel A200 Classic, the H200 represents one of two approaches built around the same fundamental goal. The A200 concentrates exclusively on analog sources, while the H200 Connected integrates digital playback, streaming and smart control into the system.

150 Watts with Exceptional Loudspeaker Control

The H200 delivers 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and remains stable with loudspeaker loads down to 2 ohms. Its substantial power supply and damping factor of more than 4000 allow the amplifier to control demanding loudspeakers with precision.

Bass remains firm and rhythmically accurate, while complex musical passages retain clarity, scale and composure. The H200 is therefore suitable not only for efficient compact speakers, but also for large floorstanding designs with challenging impedance characteristics.

Hegel SoundEngine2 Technology

Hegel’s SoundEngine2 technology continuously monitors the amplifier stages and counteracts distortion as it is generated. Rather than applying conventional global feedback after the unwanted artefacts have travelled through the circuit, SoundEngine2 corrects them locally and in real time.

This approach combines the control and low distortion associated with advanced amplifier design with a natural, dynamic and unforced musical presentation.

A Serious Analog Amplifier at Its Core

Although the H200 includes extensive digital and streaming functionality, its foundation remains a high-quality analog integrated amplifier. It provides one balanced XLR input, two unbalanced RCA inputs, fixed and variable line outputs and a dedicated headphone connection.

The variable output can be used with a subwoofer or external power amplifier, while the fixed output can feed a recording device or secondary system.

Built-In MM Phono Stage

The dedicated Moving Magnet phono input is based on the MM section of Hegel’s standalone V10 phono preamplifier. Hand-matched FET gain stages and carefully selected operational amplifiers provide low noise, accurate equalisation and the musical resolution required for serious vinyl playback.

This makes the phono stage a genuine system input rather than a basic convenience feature.

High-Performance DAC and Digital Connectivity

The internal DAC accepts signals through coaxial S/PDIF, two optical inputs, USB-B, USB-A and the network connection. Supported resolutions extend up to 24-bit/192 kHz through the appropriate inputs.

The digital circuitry, power supplies, grounding, clocking and analog filtering have been developed as one integrated system. Separate circuit layouts and careful shielding help prevent digital switching noise from entering the sensitive analog amplifier stages.

Direct Playback from USB Drives

The front-end system can play music directly from a connected USB storage device containing up to 10,000 tracks. Music stored locally can be browsed and controlled through the Hegel Control app without requiring a separate computer or music server.

Streaming Without a Proprietary Ecosystem

Hegel H200 Connected supports TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect Lossless, Roon Ready, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast and UPnP. Music can therefore be selected directly from familiar applications rather than through a mandatory proprietary playback platform.

The Hegel Control app adds input selection, volume adjustment, playback controls, internet radio, podcasts and access to music stored on network servers or USB drives.

DAC Loop and Future Upgrade Options

A coaxial digital output and Hegel’s DAC Loop function allow the H200 to send a digital signal to an external DAC and receive the converted analog signal back into the amplifier. This creates a straightforward upgrade path while retaining the H200 as the system’s central streamer, controller and amplifier.

Home Cinema and Smart-Home Integration

A fixed volume level can be assigned individually to the analog inputs, allowing the H200 to function as the power amplifier for the front channels of a home cinema system. It can also learn volume commands from a television remote control.

Support for Control4, Crestron Home and Crestron SIMPL allows the amplifier to be integrated into more advanced smart-home and custom-installation systems.

Designed for Everyday Use

Digital Input Sense can wake the amplifier and automatically select an active digital source. Configurable startup and maximum volume settings help prevent unexpected volume changes, while automatic standby reduces unnecessary energy consumption.

The front display can be automatically dimmed, manually adjusted or switched off completely. Firmware and feature updates are installed automatically, allowing the connected platform to continue developing after purchase.
