Projectors
Projectors create a genuinely cinematic image for living rooms, media spaces and dedicated home theatres. Choose an ultra-short-throw model for a clean installation close to the screen, or a conventional home cinema projector for greater placement flexibility and maximum performance in a controlled room. Complete the system with a suitable Projection Screen, or compare projection with premium TVs. For immersive sound, explore AV Receivers, Processors & Amplifiers, Home Cinema Speakers and Subwoofers.
How to Choose a Projector
The right projector should be selected as part of the room rather than by specification alone. Image size, ambient light, viewing distance, projector placement, screen material and the location of the loudspeakers all affect the final result. Hi-Fi Market focuses on premium projection solutions for high-quality living rooms, media spaces and dedicated home cinemas, with personal advice available at our showroom in Tabasalu, near Tallinn.
An ultra-short-throw projector stands close to the screen and can create a very large image without a ceiling-mounted unit above the seating area. It is particularly suitable for modern living rooms and discreet installations. A conventional home cinema projector is installed farther from the screen and usually offers more freedom in lens positioning, image adjustment and dedicated-room planning. The correct choice depends on room layout, screen position and the required image size.
Projector brightness must be matched to the room rather than judged by the largest lumen figure alone. A brighter projector is useful in a living room with some ambient light, while a dark cinema room allows contrast and black-level performance to become more important. Screen size also matters: the same light output produces a less intense image as the projected area becomes larger.
Contrast determines how clearly bright and dark parts of the image remain separated. Strong black-level performance adds depth, dimensionality and detail to dark film scenes. The real result depends on both the projector and the room: light-coloured walls, windows and reflected light can reduce perceived contrast even when the projector itself is capable of excellent performance.
Pair the projector with an appropriate Projection Screen. Ultra-short-throw models require a screen designed specifically for UST projection, particularly when ambient-light rejection is needed. Dedicated cinema rooms may benefit from fixed-frame or acoustically transparent screens, while motorised and floor-rising models allow the screen to disappear when it is not in use.
Before choosing a projector, determine the desired image width, viewing distance and available installation position. Throw ratio defines how far the projector must be placed from the screen, while lens shift and optical zoom can make installation more flexible. Ventilation, access for servicing and the path of power and signal cables should also be planned before walls, ceilings or custom furniture are completed.
A projector provides the image but normally requires a separate audio system. For a complete cinema setup, combine it with AV Receivers, Processors & Amplifiers, Home Cinema Speakers and properly integrated Subwoofers. Longer signal runs may require active or optical solutions from Digital & HDMI Cables to maintain stable high-bandwidth video transmission.
