The iconic red dot has always been synonymous with innovation beyond its limits. Now, it rightfully finds its place at the front of the latest addition to Leica‘s product portfolio: Leica Cine 1. Home cinema experiences in excellent Leica image quality with its first cinema TV. Thanks to its ultra-short-throw lens, the Leica Cine 1 can be integrated into the living room in a space-saving manner close to the wall, while its elegant aluminum body in the authentic Leica look elegantly blends into its surroundings as a classic style icon.

Description

A television that replaces the television

Leica calls the Cine 1 a Cinema TV rather than a projector, and that distinction matters: instead of a bulky panel dominating the room, it sits low and close to the wall and throws a fixed 100-inch image from barely 20 inches away. There’s no separate projector to mount, no long throw distance to plan around — it works more like a piece of furniture than a home cinema installation.

Built around one screen size

Unlike a general-purpose projector, this version of the Cine 1 is engineered specifically for a 100-inch image. The Leica Summicron lens, with its four aspherical elements, is matched to that exact size rather than a zoom range — which is part of why the sharpness holds up so consistently edge to edge. If 100 inches isn’t the size you’re after, Leica also builds 80 and 120-inch versions with the same design, each with its lens tuned the same way for its own screen size.

Color and contrast that hold up in daylight

The triple RGB laser light source is rated for more than 25,000 hours and covers over 100% of the BT.2020 color space, which is a wider gamut than most televisions reach. Combined with Leica’s own Image Optimization processing, the picture stays rich even with some ambient light in the room — you’re not restricted to evening viewing with the curtains drawn. Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG are all supported, so the projector adjusts its output scene by scene rather than applying one flat picture setting throughout a film.

Sound that’s built in, not bolted on

A 2 x 25-watt Dolby Atmos speaker system is integrated into the housing, aimed at filling the room rather than just the space directly in front of the screen. It won’t replace a dedicated surround setup for the most demanding home cinema builds, but for most living rooms it’s enough on its own — and if you do want to add an external system, an HDMI eARC connection is there for exactly that.

Designed to be looked at, not just looked through

The aluminium housing, perforated speaker grille, automatic dust cover and the small red dot on the front are all details Leica carried over from its camera design language rather than from typical projector aesthetics. It’s built to sit in view on a sideboard or media unit, not to be hidden away in a cabinet.

Everything already connected

The built-in Google TV interface gives direct access to the main streaming apps without an extra box, and Apple AirPlay 2 covers casting from a phone or laptop. A triple tuner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB ports, plus a CI+ slot, cover the rest — consoles, external drives, or a set-top box, if you still use one.

We can also help match the visual system with the right AV receiver, loudspeakers, subwoofer and cabling for your room. Leica Home Cinema: Optical Precision on a Cinematic Scale The Leica Cine 1 is an ultra-short-throw Laser TV designed to create a permanent 100-inch or 120-inch home cinema installation while standing close to the wall. Its combination of 4K resolution, Triple RGB laser technology, a Leica Summicron lens, Leica Image Optimization, Dolby Vision and integrated Dolby Atmos sound makes it an elegant large-screen alternative to a conventional television. Matching Leica screens allow the projector, image size and room layout to be planned as one coherent system. The Leica Cine Play 1 and Leica Cine Compact 1 expand the range with compact smart laser projectors for more flexible placement. Both bring Leica optics, 4K projection and integrated entertainment functions into a format that can be used in living rooms, media spaces and less permanent installations. The Leica Floor Stand 1 is compatible with both compact projectors and provides a refined way to position them while keeping the system visually integrated into the interior.
