Premium 8K Media Player and Media Server

The R_volution PlayerOne 8K is designed for high-quality playback of local files, NAS libraries and full disc backups in advanced home cinema systems. Its Amlogic S928X-K/J platform combines powerful video decoding with support for 8K UHD, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, AV1 and modern lossless multichannel audio formats.

R_video Media Library

R_video provides a visual interface for organising large collections of movies and TV shows. It scans content stored on the internal hard drive, USB storage or a NAS and automatically adds cover artwork, backgrounds, metadata, ratings, cast information and other details. Users can browse by genre, rating, duration or release date, create custom categories and enjoy features such as animated backgrounds, movie soundtracks and favourite scenes.

Internal HDD Bay – Up to 32 TB

The PlayerOne 8K includes a hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA drive bay supporting hard drives up to 32 TB. This allows a large movie, television and concert collection to be stored directly inside the player. Drives can be exchanged when required, while R_video can manage titles across multiple drives as part of a single library.

Full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray Menus

Support for UHD ISO, BD ISO and BDMV structures allows the PlayerOne 8K to reproduce full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray menus rather than only the main feature. This preserves access to alternate versions, bonus material, commentary tracks, bookmarks and seamless branching.

8K UHD, Dolby Vision and HDR10+

HDMI 2.1a output supports video up to 8K UHD 7680 × 4320 at 60p. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and advanced Dolby VS10 processing provide extensive HDR compatibility, while AI-PQ and AI-SR technologies can enhance contrast, colour, detail and upscaling. Direct Output and automatic frame-rate switching are also available for accurate playback.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D

The PlayerOne 8K supports advanced home cinema audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro and Auro-3D, together with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and LPCM. High-resolution music playback includes FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV and DSD, with both stereo and multichannel material supported.

R_share Multiroom Media Server

In addition to working as a standalone player, the PlayerOne 8K can function as a media server. R_share allows content stored on the internal hard drive to be streamed to other compatible R_volution players over the local network, making the PlayerOne 8K suitable as the central source for a multiroom video system.

Network and External Storage

Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 provide access to NAS devices and networked computers, while three rear USB 3.0 ports and one front USB 2.0 port support external hard drives, flash storage and other peripherals. SMB network playback is optimised for high-bitrate UHD video.

Home Cinema Integration

HDMI 2.1a, coaxial and optical S/PDIF outputs, analogue stereo RCA output, IR input and IP control make the PlayerOne 8K suitable for both standalone systems and professionally integrated home cinemas. Support for control platforms and an optional rack-mount kit further simplify custom installation.
