High-End 8K Media Player for Serious Movie Libraries

The R_volution PlayerPro 8K is designed for high-performance home cinema systems built around local files, NAS storage and premium-quality video playback. Its Amlogic S928X platform supports video up to 8K UHD at 60 frames per second, while Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby VS10 processing provide extensive HDR compatibility for modern televisions and projectors.

R_video Media Library

R_video organises large movie and television libraries into an intuitive visual interface with cover artwork, metadata, collections, filters, animated backgrounds, movie soundtracks and custom categories. Content can be stored on internal hard drives, USB storage, a computer or NAS and accessed through the same media-library environment.

Dual Internal HDD Bays – Up to 64 TB

Two concealed 3.5-inch SATA drive bays allow the PlayerPro 8K to accommodate up to two 32 TB hard drives, providing as much as 64 TB of internal storage. This makes it possible to keep a substantial movie, television and concert collection directly inside the player without relying exclusively on external storage or a separate NAS.

Full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray Menu Support

The PlayerPro 8K supports UHD ISO, BD ISO and BDMV structures with full Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray menu navigation. This preserves access to features such as alternate versions, bonus material, commentary tracks and seamless branching instead of reducing a disc backup to simple main-feature playback.

Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and 8K UHD

Video support includes Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and playback up to 8K UHD 7680 × 4320 at 60p through HDMI 2.1a. Dolby VS10 processing can manage conversion between SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision, while AI-PQ and AI-SR processing provide additional picture enhancement and upscaling options.

Precision TCXO Clock

A dedicated 24 MHz temperature-compensated crystal oscillator provides a precise timing reference for digital audio and video processing. R_volution uses a frequency chosen as a direct multiple of common 48 kHz audio and 24 Hz video timing, with the aim of reducing timing errors and maintaining consistent synchronisation in high-performance AV systems.

Linear Power Supply with Toroidal Transformer

Unlike many compact media players that rely on an external switching power supply, the PlayerPro 8K uses an internal linear power supply built around an 81 W oxygen-free-copper toroidal transformer. Toshiba linear regulation, an additional low-dropout regulator and selected capacitors are used as part of R_volution’s approach to lowering electrical noise within the digital AV platform.

Lossless Home Cinema Audio

The PlayerPro 8K supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D together with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and a wide range of conventional and high-resolution audio formats. High-resolution music playback includes FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV and DSD, with support for stereo and multichannel material.

Extensive Local and Network Playback

Supported sources include the two internal SATA drives, USB storage, computers and NAS devices over the local network. Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 provide network connectivity, while three rear USB 3.0 ports and a front USB 2.0 port support external storage and accessories. One USB 3.0 connection is configured as a low-noise USB audio output for use with an external DAC.

Home Cinema Integration

HDMI 2.1a, coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, stereo RCA output, IR input and IP-control compatibility allow the PlayerPro 8K to be integrated into sophisticated cinema installations. The supplied rack-mount hardware also makes it suitable for custom-installed systems and dedicated equipment racks.
